Colorz

Born in 1972, Sébastien Marc, alias COLORZ, has gained a reputation in French urban art for twenty-five years. He has expressed his art on walls, trains the fences of Paris and its suburbs as well as in the north and south of France, Amsterdam, Athens, New York, Hong Kong and Jakarta.

A reference of French street art, COLORZ has expressed his art on different supports, canvas, wood, aluminium, and Plexiglas. His style both, explosive and controlled, finds its influence in the energy of the street. It translates into an abstraction of colours drawn from unexpected urban landscapes.

In 1987, COLORZ tagged the walls of Paris and its suburbs. His omnipresent signature soon made him a key player on the French urban art scene. In Amsterdam and Athens he was the first to tag the walls of the metro. His art had instant recognition in New York, Hong Kong and Jakarta. From a simple graff, his visual vocabulary evolves in elaborate compositions where the colour and treatment of a wall take on new dimensions. COLORZ’s unique and recognizable style is shown, by his vibrant energy and has become a reference in the world of urban art.

Since 2008 the artist has devoted himself exclusively to his form of art. Continuing his street art as well as developing his painting on to other supports (canvas, wood, aluminium, Plexiglas) enhancing his visual codes.

Today Colorz, has become much sought artist for the remarkable quality of his paintings on canvas influenced by great artists, Jackson Pollock for his abstract expressionism and Gerhard Richter known for his abstract neo-expressionism.
